Komari Beverages was born out of a deep understanding of the evolving needs of Ethiopian consumers. While the local market had long been dominated by beer companies, we recognized a growing demand for high-quality, locally produced alcoholic beverages that reflect the unique tastes and culture of Ethiopia. There was a clear gap in the market—one that called for a bridge between traditional preferences and modern, globally inspired flavors. With extensive research and a strong commitment to innovation, we saw an opportunity to introduce premium beverages that resonate with local tastes while meeting international standards.
Our journey began when a group of friends, each from different backgrounds, united by a shared passion, came together with the goal of offering something new and exciting to the Ethiopian market. We set out to create a fresh range of drinks by carefully tuning in to the changing preferences of our consumers. We noticed a growing demand for a refreshing, flavorful, and convenient drink, which led to the formation of Komari Beverage.

From our humble beginnings as a group of friends with a dream, Komari Beverages has grown to employ over 200 dedicated staff. What started in a kitchen-based ‘laboratory’ has evolved into a state-of-the-art factory, and the idea that brought us together has blossomed into a thriving brand created with the input of thousands of consumers. Along the way, our journey has been marked by innovation, resilience, and an unwavering spirit.

We take great pride in our innovative approach and were thrilled to be the first to introduce Hard Seltzer to Ethiopia. As a newcomer to the Ethiopian beverage market, Komari has certainly faced its share of challenges. Launching during the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic meant that we had to shift to work approach almost overnight. Despite this obstacle, our team’s dedication and flexibility ensured a smooth transition.
Not long after, regional political conflicts emerged, affecting our expansion plans. In response, we concentrated on strengthening our presence in key regions while remaining agile for future growth. Inflation and changing government regulations are ongoing challenges in the beverage industry. Through it all, our resilience has shone through, a testament to our unwavering commitment and the strength of our team.
The diverse backgrounds of our founding management team and the strong synergy within our team have been crucial in overcoming every challenge along the way. These experiences have not only fortified Komari’s foundation but have also embedded a spirit of tenacity at the heart of our brand.
